5 Best Travel Apps For Smart Phones

First of all, if you don't have a smart phone why are you even reading this article? We'll just go ahead and assume if you are reading this you're on a fancy smart phone cram stuffed full of shitty apps you never use. Seriously, when was the last time you opened the TMZ app?

Point proven.

Now that we've established you know how to download apps, let's help you out by showing you 5 travel apps that don't suck you can use to phase out the crapola on that iPhone 4s of yours.

Findery

Finally an app comes around that feels like a treasure chest full of secrets for all us travel lovers out there. Imagine being at a quiet park in the middle of a quant European town and suddenly it hits you; you have to shit. Now.

Thanks to the good people at Findery, you can easily check in and see if another poor tourist had the same thing you did for dinner last night, found themselves in the same position and was kind enough to leave you a message to help in your time of need.

Either that, or you can use it to find the best soup at dinner with your shitty parents or find the wifi password for the swanky hotel you're loitering outside of with your smelly hippy friends, your choice.

Fetch

While most of you crazy kids out there have no problem buying your iTunes musics, Farmville credit and Justin Bieber lunch boxes, some of us grownups prefer the finer things in life and have the money to buy them, so suck on that tweens!

Long gone are the days of lugging around a torn up backpack looking for the cheapest hostel. Now it is all about first class flights and champagne brunches, amirite?

Ok, even if you aren't living the high life, Fetch might be one of the best apps of the year so far. Fetch allows you to have a virtual buying assistant, an actual person, who is at your beck and call.

Need a business class flight to Nairobi tomorrow morning and are too lazy to open SkyScanner and deal with the bullshit that faces you there? Order your virtual house boy on Fetch to take care of it all, and as easy as asking Siri what time it is you'll have your e-ticket in your inbox in no time at all. By the way, what the hell are you flying to Nairobi for?

SkyScanner

Yes, we just took a giant shit on SkyScanner in the previous paragraph but let us explain. Sometimes we can't all pay an assistant to take care of our lives for us, so for the rest of us we'll have to book our own flights. A process no traveler looks forward to (besides the fact they have a half chub for traveling again), the actual process always seems to mess up - you've just put in all your details, pressed purchase and the page freezes huh?

SkyScanner is simply the best of the endless sea of flight and hotel search apps. The mobile version of their site seems to actually offer cheaper flights and with the "explore" option you can see how far you can go on your precious few days off from your sucky job.

PackPoint

Never thought packing would be fun, huh? PackPoint is easily one of our favorite apps of the year, simply because it takes the worst part of prepping for a trip and at least makes it a bit easier. By answering a few quick questions like where you are going and why, and if you're willing to wear those dirty panties for another day, PackPoint will auto generate a packing list for you, taking the weather at your destination into account, so it is as easy as possible to prep for your next trip.

I'm a guy who usually finds myself at the airport staring into my suitcase wondering why the hell all I brought was my passport, 3 different individual socks and 19 t-shirts for a weekend trip, so this app is in my download que yesterday.

Tinder

Ok ok, relax, Tinder isn't just for getting laid anymore, although it still works perfectly fine for that too. When you're traveling, sometimes you find yourself all alone and simply need to find people to hang out with. While prowling the isles at the local grocery store looking for the perfect person to strike up a convo with might work for you (if you're a serial killer), Tinder takes care of all the work with a couple swipes so you can easily go from your lonely hotel room to joining a traveling girls volleyball team at the local pub for a night you'll never remember.

In all seriousness, after the initial excitement of the sex app, Tinder is becoming a very popular social networking site among travelers and you'll have a hard time traveling much in the future without running into fellow nomads who didn't at least spend a night with someone on Tinder once during their travels. What happens in Thailand stays in Thailand... most of the time.
