7 of the Hottest Travel Destinations for 2019 (UPDATED)

What are the next trends in terms of adventures, experiences and travel destinations for 2019's bucket list? Time to sit back and start planning!

We asked some of the top travel bloggers to give us their input on which countries will be the hottest adventure travel destinations for 2019, and we got some awesome ideas to help us plan our next adventure! While some you may have heard of for years, other may be a surprise, so pull out that map, start looking at your holiday time and get planning on your next adventure travel holiday. Lonely Planet just named Sri Lanka the top country for 2019 and Copenhagen the top city, and while we can’t argue with either, we love them both, here are some other ideas to get your excitement flowing.

We've already got our first destination of 2019 picked, and you will too by the end of this post! Enjoy!

  1. Seychelles

7 of the Hottest Travel Destinations for 2016

If there is ever a place to visit in 2019, we think it is Seychelles, especially if you’re looking for serene beaches, tranquil environment, stunning sceneries and meeting wonderful people.

Not only is it undeniably one of the best honeymoon destinations, it’s also pretty family-friendly. The culture here is amazing as it is a mixture of African, European, and even Indian influences. You’ll find the locals here are extremely friendly and lively, unlike we’ve ever seen before. A one hour conversation with our hotel pickup driver gave us wonderful insights into the country and the people!

Although we stayed at a luxury resort on our honeymoon, there are plenty of accommodations for backpackers and budget travelers alike. It's also perfect for adventurers as it's well-known for dive spots, water sports and hiking trails.

Seychelles has several islands with Mahe, Praslin and La Digue being the top 3 and while the country can be quite expensive (most islands are), specifically when it comes to eating out and getting around, a bit of exploration can lead you to some great finds. We highly recommend renting a bike or car and exploring from top to bottom. The best meal we had was at a Chinese restaurant overlooking the entire Mahe island bay.

The best part about Seychelles is that it is a visa-free country meaning that there are no visa requirements for any person wishing to travel there. Why oh why would it not be on your bucketlist for 2019 then?

2. Petra, Jordan

7 of the Hottest Travel Destinations for 2016

In 2019 you should definitely visit one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

If you have some doubts on which one to choose, here is my tip: go to Jordan and visit Petra, the twenty-centuries-old capital of the old reign of the Nabatean Empire.

Here's our full guide to 48 Hours in Jordan!

Petra is for everyone, every age, every kind of tourist. If you are a young hiking-lover, you are in the right place: there are so many trails heading to hidden spots of the site that you can get the three-days ticket and still have something missing to see.

Do you love history and archaeology? Welcome to paradise! The Nabateans were great engineers and created a whole city into the mountains, with houses, temples, theatres and some wonderful examples of engineering.

Petra is also a must-do for the elderly as it offers many different methods of transportation: horses and coach for the canyon, camels for the city and donkeys to reach the highest places such as the famous Monastery, where you can have the most beautiful view over the surrounding mountains.

My tip is to get in the site as early as possible in order to avoid the big groups of tourists and the heat that can become oppressive in the middle of the desert. Bring a hat and a lot of water and enjoy this New Wonder of the World

3. Blagaj Tekke, Bosnia and Herzegovina

If you are a person who wants to explore and discover new places while you are traveling then you will definitely like my suggestion.

7 of the Hottest Travel Destinations for 2016

Blagaj Tekke on the Buna River, country of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is undiscovered pearl that every traveler must see. Blagaj is located in Herzegovina only 12 kilometers south of Mostar, which is a tourist resort, best known for its Old bridge. If you are situated in Mostar then  Blagaj is easily accessible by bus, by car and even by taxi.

Blagaj Tekke was built hundreds of years ago, precisely in the 15th century. It is an important monument to the early Ottoman period in Bosnia and Herzegovina,  and represents the unity of nature and architecture. It is actually known as  a Dervish’s monestery where they did their ritual prayer. It is located where the river Buna springs beneath large steep rock.

A good thing is, when you are visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina you don’t need to spend so much money as in other European destnination, also Herzegovina has still a lot of contents and only a few hours drive you can visit the surrounding countries such as Croatian  and Montenegro coast. Moreover tourism is not very developed in Bosnia and Herzegovina so  you will not have problems with the crowds and you will be able to freely enjoy the charms that this place offers.

4. Tanzania

My place to visit in 2019 would definitely be Tanzania. If you haven't visited Africa before it's the perfect starting spot to ease you in nicely.

It's got a great mix of on and off the beaten track destinations, with big tourist draws like Mt Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti and Zanzibar there to keep you busy during a short trip.

For the more adventurous, there are many beautiful small towns and beaches you can explore to get off the tourist path – Pangani, Moshi, Mwanza to name a few. Of course, you can’t forget the beautiful food either – favourites like grilled goat, Zanzibar pizzas and octopus curry will surely surprise you and keep your stomach full!

On top of all that, Swahili is such a beautiful language to hear spoken in the streets and Tanzanians are some of the most vibrant and friendly people in the world. It’s just a beautiful, beautiful place.

5. New Zealand

There are countless reasons why you must visit New Zealand in 2019.

For starters, the nature is unbelievably pretty and there is a huge variety in landscapes You can find mountains, lakes, volcanoes, forest, beach, hills, jungle, glaciers and any other landscape you can think of.

7 of the Hottest Travel Destinations for 2016

Besides beautiful landscapes there is also a lots of wildlife. You can spot penguins, seals, sea lions, dolphins and whales. But also a huge variety of birds, such as the famous Kiwi. Which also happens to be the nickname for people from New Zealand.

One of the best ways to explore the beautiful nature or look for wildlife is hiking. There are countless wonderful walks, ranging from half an hour to a week long hike. My personal favorite is the Tongariro Crossing!

Back to the people living in New Zealand, they are superfriendly, helpful and always happy to give you insider tips about their beautiful country, of which they are very proud.

And one final reason to visit New Zealand is that it's is summer there, when it is winter on this side of the globe making it the perfect destination for escaping the winter blues!

6. The Philippines

The top place (or country to be precise) that I absolutely would recommend for 2019 would have to be the Philippines! As one of the underrated destinations in Southeast Asia, there's absolutely more to the country than the typically-known destinations of Manila and Boracay — add the fact that it's generally inexpensive here (food, transporation, cost of living, etc.) so it's absolutely a budget traveler's haven. Truth be told, you can easily experience a luxurious getaway since the natural landscape would already make you feel that you're living in the best tropical paradise possible.

Besides, with over thousands of islands, we have a LOT in store for you: exotic destinations, white sand beaches, turquoise blue waters, lush forests, dramatic limestone formations, picturesque peaks, colorful reefs, magical underground caves and rivers... aah, I could go on and on (and on!) So definitely, there is much that you can do here and adventures are definitely abound.

7 of the Hottest Travel Destinations for 2016

You can choose to dive into the Tubbataha Reefs (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), hike up the ancient Banaue Rice Terraces, or climb the breathtaking Mt. Pulag. The icing to the cake? The Filipinos' world-known hospitality and warmth — I guarantee you that you would surely feel most welcomed here. (The majority of the population also speaks English so it's very tourist-friendly).

For the islands that you absolutely mustn't miss, I recommend Batanes, Bohol, Caramoan, Malapascua, Coron, and Siargao.

7. Montenegro

We’ve had Montenegro in the back of our minds for a very long time, and we finally got to check out this amazing little gem of a country a few weeks ago, and holy smokes were we in love! Nestled in the mountains, at the back of a fjord, lays Kotor, one of the most postcard looking cities you will ever see.

With a landscape that reminds you half of Norway and half of Greece, Montenegro is a perfect mix of everything you look for in a holiday. An emerging country, tons of history, natural beauty, delicious food, friendly locals and everything is cheap. We stayed in an AirBnb for $20 a night spitting distance from the old town walls. That’s right, the entire old town is inside a walled city.

One of the best hikes of 2018 was to the top of the Kotor Fortress, with a truly stunning view of the entire little city and the surrounding mountains.

So, before you pick Paris or New York for your first 2019 holiday destination, give Montenegro a look, it will truly impress you.
